The Sunday Snippet #2

Well what do ya know, it's Sunday again. Feels like only yesterday I was writing my first 'Sunday Snippet'- it's like I blinked and suddenly a whole week flew by! Other than work, I've had quite a relaxed week and put a lot of time into planning new and exciting posts. My blog has never been fashion focused, it's certainly beauty based, with the odd lifestyle post here and there but I'm not one to write about my OOTD or current wishlists. However, as my blog is beginning to evolve, I thought why the hell not? I've always loved 90's fashion and what was the main fashion point of the 90's? DENIM, lot's and lot's of cringe worthy denim (I think we've all seen the infamous Britney & JT pic) So, I saw this cute dress in TOPSHOP but they never seemed to have my size in stock. Then, out of the blue, I saw a girl trying my size on in the fitting room... I overheard her saying she wan't gonna buy it and thus it landed in my thankful hands. I love the way TOPSHOP have kept the 90's style, whilst making it current by simplifying the design and keeping it short. Pair up it with your snazziest trainers and baggy T or dress it up with a a heeled sandal and Summer 16, we're ready for you.

I've also been loving the Barry M 'Coconut Infusion' range recently. It's blended with coconut water/ oil to hydrate and care for your nails whilst delivering a gel-like finish. I've found, once applied, they're super shiny, long lasting and with nine tempting colours to choose from you're sure to find your perfect summer shade. What's more? They will all compliment your tan beautifully! My personal favorites are Flamingo, Sunkissed, Aloha and Starfish. I personally find the two nude shades perfect as they're not too pink, not too brown and not too pale. Flamingo is a fun peachy orange, foolproof for the beach! However, my number one has to be Aloha, a bright raspberry pink.

Today was spent how Sundays should be. I headed off to the beach with my loved ones and with the sun beaming down on us, we collected interesting shells and had a good old natter. There's something pretty amazing about the sea. Although it's a force to be reckoned with, I've always found it calming and feel kinda free just watching it. As we sat by the shore, with the wind in my hair, my mum offered a wondrous piece of advice. 'Feel the wind and imagine it's blowing through you. Through your hair and your face and your brain. Imagine it's blowing all your worries, problems and negative energy behind you'... Lovely.

My Go To Everyday Make-Up With Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette

Aloha!

So I'm sure I'm not the only one that has a go-to make-up look? Those of you that don't have one you're missing out! And those of you that do have one know that a go-to make-up look has to be versatile, easy and quick! (V. important) So what exactly is this used for? Well for me I use it when I've overslept, have no idea what day it is and in all the confusion realise I only have 20 minutes to get out the door. This has been my go-to for about a month now and has never let me down, the great thing about it is I know exactly what I need so there is no faffing around with different shades of lippy and what not. Plus it looks as though I've made an acceptable amount of effort for the work place. (It actually it took me 10 minutes as I was gulping down a cuppa tea, shh!)

Face: I started off with my Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser (very similar to the POREfessional for those who want to read my comparison click here). I then used a large stippling brush to buff in my Bourjois Radiance Reveal Foundation (for my review click here). I do have an on going battle with under eye circles and blemishes so covering these with my Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer gives me an extra confidence boost. I then dab on some Top Shop Afternoon Tea Cream Blush and set with Kryolan Translucent Powder. Dab some Benefit High Beam on the cheek bones and you have an even complexion with a healthy glow (all in under 5 minutes!)

Eyes/ Lips: I always start by filling in my brows with the Rimmel Eye Brow Pencil (Hazel) first as it gives me a frame to work with. I then prime my eye lids with the Original Urban Decay Primer Potion and begin to apply my eye make-up. I used Limit on the lids, Nooner in the crease and Mugshot in the outter corner. I then used Strange to highlight under my brows, in the inner corner and a dash on the centre of the eye lids for bigger, brighter eyes (All these shades are from Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette). Next a lick of Rimmel's Glam Eye's Liquid Eyeliner and a coat of Max Factor's False Lash Effect Mascara to complete the eye look. All that's left to do now is apply a bit of lippy! (I used Bourjois Rouge Edition Lipstick (Rose Millesime)

What I really like about this make-up look is that it's easy to wear and quite fresh faced. The Top Shop blush and Bourjois lippy compliment the Naked 3 palette really nicely for a summery trio. The lipstick is quite light and glossy yet gives you a sweet splash of colour. And there you have it an easy go-to make-up look that only takes 10 minutes!

What's your go-to make-up look?

Topshop Nail Polish REVIEW

Aloha!

You know when you're browsing in one of your favorite shops,  stumble across something and think, 'why have I not bought this before?!' ladies and gentleman I give you Topshop nail polish! I know what you're thinking, this isn't a 'new' product but I've always been a Barry M nail paint kinda gal so thought I'd introduce a new family member to my nail polish collection.

I was really excited by all the unusual shades and colours Topshop do that other brands don't seem to have, particularly 'carnival' (personally I would've called it 'mangos' but there we go..) so I bought it!

Topshop- £5 (plus student discount if you're a student)

Sadly, I was really dissapointed *sad face*. The colour was great, but the actual nail polish was very runny and the brush was quite stiff which left my nails streaky. I had to apply 3 coats before I got a solid colour, which meant it took ages to dry. Not sure it's worth a fiver as my nails chipped after 1 day! (even with a top coat) pretty useless really as I need to be hands on at uni and work.

I would say that I wouldn't buy Topshop nail polishes again but some colours seem to work better than others so I might purchase one more to give them a chance, it's a shame because I really like the shades they do but for now I think I'll be sticking to my Barry M's! Sorry Topshop!

Have you found the ultimate nail polish?
